Even accidentally using mods could lead to players facing an “unplayable” Monster Hunter Wilds. This comes as the game continues to have a massive cheating problem.
With the launch of Title Update 1, players began modifying files and inflating their ranking and quest rewards. Capcom has now issued a statement, encouraging players steer clear of modified quests, telling players it could “interfere with normal gameplay and even render the game unplayable.”
“We have confirmed the unauthorized modification of game data in Monster Hunter Wilds for High Rank environment Investigations, Field Surveys, and more. Modified data can interfere with normal gameplay and even render the game unplayable. If you suspect a quest has been modified, please do not play it, or stop playing it immediately.”
The statement on the Monster Hunter website shares details about maximum monsters and rewards you can find in Wilds, giving players an edge when it comes to figuring out which missions have been tampered with. That said, it’s worth noting that at this time, Capcom can’t directly tell which person was an innocent bystander and which was an active cheater, thus they encourage you quit out of the game before the quest results screen shows up.
